Orders are paid by bank transfer. It's the cheapest way to move money at these order sizes, and it settles finally — which is what lets us release funds to your supplier in days rather than months.

Nothing moves until you say so. Funds sit with our licensed escrow partner from the moment you transfer until you confirm delivery. Merkato never holds your money and takes its commission only at release.

One payment method, on purpose. We don't accept cards. Card payments cost buyers more than twice as much and can be reversed months after goods arrive — which would mean asking suppliers to wait out that risk before getting paid. Bank transfer is cheaper for you and final for them.

Payment fees are set by our escrow and payments partner and passed through without markup; the exact rate is confirmed in full before you commit to an order. Disputes are handled by Merkato at no charge. Where a dispute is escalated to formal arbitration, the arbitration cost is borne by the party the decision goes against, as set out in our Terms of Service.
